Dream Glass

Lezlie's work is primarily glass beads, created by lampworking, and then used as single pieces, or made into beaded jewelry and accessories using leatherwork, wirework, silversmithing, seedbeads, etc. to compliment and enhance the beauty of the glass. Although the art is ancient, Lezlie has developed her own original techniques and style – simply no one else creates these kinds of beads!

"I take a solid mass, heat it in the flame to liquid, then manipulate; sculpting, layering, blowing, and stretching, then cooling and returning to solid."

Lampworked beads today are still made individually by artists who use a mix of oxygen and propane gas. Coloured glass rods are heated until molten, and wound on a steel rod (mandrel). Coloured layers, foils, and murrini's are added and can be encased with clear glass for magnification. Molten glass is manipulated into various shapes using metal and graphite tools. Vessels and beads can also be blown at the torch. After the piece is finished, it placed in a kiln to remove internal stress in the glass and prevent cracking.

Dream Glass by Lezlie is available to any interested retailers and wholesalers, including original creation of specific jewelry lines and home accessories.
